Go-to-Ground Division Classes and Awards

MANDATORY CLASSES

The Go-To-Ground Division is comprised of three classes: Novice, Open, and Certificate. At the discretion of the Trial Chairperson, Novice and Open may be divided into separate classes for puppies and adults.

Novice Class

Open to Jack Russells 6 months or older which have not scored 100% in this class at a previous JRTCC, JRTCA, or AWTA trial. (One minute to reach quarry; may leave earth and re-enter several times; work quarry for 30 seconds.) Entries earning a score of 100% at this trial may, upon payment of the pre-entry fee, enter the Open class at this trial.

a) Novice Puppy; 6 up to 12 months
b) Novice Adult, 1 year and over

Open Class

Open to Jack Russells 6 months or older which have scored 100% in Novice Go-to-Ground class at this or any previous JRTCC, JRTCA or AWTA trial AND who have not previously achieved 100% in this class, including puppies. (30 seconds to reach quarry; may leave earth once and re-enter; work quarry for one minute.) Puppies earning 100% may not advance to the Puppy Championship class at this trial. Adults may not enter the Championship Certificate Class at this trial.

a) Open Puppy; 6 up to 12 months in age
b) Open Adult, 1 year and over

Puppy Championship

Open to JRT puppies 6 to 12 mos. which have earned 100% in an Open Go-To-Ground class at a previous JRTCC, JRTCA or AWTA trial. Copy of Certificate or 100% score sheet must be submitted with pre-entry or presented to Den Steward. (30 seconds to reach quarry; may leave earth once and re-enter; work quarry for one minute.) First and Second place winners will be Puppy Go-To-Ground Champion and Reserve.

Championship Certificate:

Open to Adult JRT's 1 year of age and over, which hold a JRTCC or JRTCA Trial Certificate or an AWTA Certificate of Gameness. Copy of Certificate must be provided to Den Steward. Exception: Terriers which have earned 100% in an Open Go-To-Ground class in the last 30 days or have turned 1 year of age, enter this class by showing a 100% score sheet. (30 seconds to reach quarry; may not leave earth; work quarry for one minute.)

a) Championship Certificate 10 - 12.5 : First and Second place winners will be Under Go-To-Ground Champion and Reserve.

b) Championship Certificate 12.5 - 15 : First and Second place winners will be Over Go-To-Ground Champion and Reserve.

OPTIONAL CLASSES

Pre-Novice Puppy

Open to JRT puppies 4 up to 6 months. Entry in Pre-Novice Puppy classes does not affect the puppy's eligibility to enter the Novice class after 6 months of age. (One minute to reach quarry and mark for 15 seconds; may leave earth and re-enter.)

MASTERS' DEN

A simulated den or "sette" including multiple entrances, blind tunnels, barriers and varying tunnel sizes; eventually leading to caged quarry (usually the end piece of a go-to-ground liner is utilized in order to ensure the safety of the rats used as "quarry").
