Racing at The Royal
In January of 2006, Janice Blakeney, the Horse Show Co-ordinator for The Royal Winter Fair in Toronto approached the JRTCC, asking us to do a JRT Racing Demonstration at the Fair. As many of you know, we have done events at the Royal for years, however, this was like no other.
Our demonstration was the entertainment for intermission at the Royal Jumping Competition.

18 terriers raced in the Ricoh Coliseum on Friday November 3 and Saturday November 4 2006. The races were filmed live and broadcast on the huge screen in the middle of the Coliseum. While we were setting up a race, the previous race was broadcast in slow motion -- amazing to watch. The audience absolutely loved it and the applause and cheering spurred us on.
Jana Seymour did a tremendous job of commentating and got the audience even more involved. Mark Harper, our Race Boss, had everything arranged with the ring crew, 25 workers who set up the entire racing equipment in about 4 minutes. It all went flawlessly. To top it all off, on Saturday evening an excellent and elegant supper was provided for the entire Royal Demo Team.
Congratulations to all those who came and helped out for doing such a great job!
